Is Your Job Application
Being Ghosted?

Why? Not because of your skill or resume — but because of how you apply.

See below.

  • H-1B sponsorship insight
  • Smarter job matching
  • Focused applications
The truth about the challenges students face when job hunting, including limited experience, complex hiring systems, time pressure, and uncertain outcomes.
Employer market funnel showing millions of U.S. employers narrowing to H-1B employers and a smaller high-volume sponsor target group.

That's why you need to laser-focus your applications on that tiny fraction of companies.

How we got to 965

The 965 figure is an R2J analysis — not a number published by USCIS.

We used public USCIS H-1B employer data, looked across a five-year window, standardized employer records, and then applied a consistent high-volume sponsorship threshold.

USCIS H-1B employer records

USCIS provides employer-level H-1B petition data by fiscal year, including first decisions on initial and continuing employment.

02 · Five-year analysis
Aggregate employer activity

Instead of treating one year as the whole story, the original R2J analysis aggregated each employer's H-1B activity across five years to identify sustained sponsorship volume.

03 · R2J threshold
200+ H-1B petitions over five years

Companies meeting that R2J-defined threshold formed the high-volume sponsor group. The resulting analysis identified 965 companies.

Methodology note: the five-year USCIS dataset and the 200+ petition threshold are R2J's analytical methodology. This 965 figure reflects the original analysis and should be refreshed if the underlying dataset or methodology changes. USCIS publishes the underlying employer-level data; it does not publish an official list called “the 965 companies.” Employer names can vary across records, so normalization is part of the analysis. Sponsorship history is a historical signal, not a guarantee that an employer will sponsor a future role.
